One of the best places to start your zero-waste journey is with “why”. Ask yourself, “why do I believe we need to reduce our waste?”, “who am I doing this for?” and “will this positively impact my family?” Once you’re clear on your “why”, slowly begin implementing the waste-free ideas that are right for your household.

Below, we share some easy tips to get you started.

  • 1

    Reduce single-use plastic

Carry a reusable water bottle, reusable coffee cup, reusable produce and shopping bags and say no to plastic straws. Grab yourself a metal straw and wooden/metal cutlery kit and pop it in your handbag.

  • 2

    Plan your meals

Planning your menu for the week allows you to buy only what is needed, which in turn reduces food waste and saves you money. Then, create your meals around these items and prepare a shopping list
